We did a little research online and then quickly booked a room at the quaint Thimble Islands Bed & Breakfast situated on the beautiful Connecticut shoreline just 75 miles north of New York City. The innkeepers were so nice and accommodating. Once we arrived and got settled in they offered us a glass of wine and cheese and crackers.
This was the view out of our bedroom window. It was lovely.
Awesome bathroom. To the left was a huge bathtub. It was SO nice...it had jets and the walls of the tub were heated so the water stayed warm.
Breakfast table for two!
They served us a bowl of fresh fruit salad with toast before the main course. Jake had the blueberry pancakes and farm fresh eggs and I had the specialty omelet - caramelized onions, shiitake mushrooms and gorgunzola. Yum.
A lot of the Thimble Islands have homes built on them. Some islands (like the two below) are only big enough for one house. My question is who would want to live on an island alone? I love having neighbors!

We took a nature walk....
View of the B&B from the trail.
The town!
This seemed so New England-ish to me.
We decided to tour Yale University while we were in the area. It was gorgeous! The two pictures below are entrances to a dorm (they call them residential colleges). Can't imagine living in such a beautiful old building!
Once you walk through the gate into the dorm you are in a private courtyard. It looked like the castle from the Beauty and the Beast. The door below is one of many doors to enter the dorm from the courtyard.
Jake touching the lucky left foot of one of Yale's former presidents.
Yale library circulation desk. I've never wanted to take a picture of a circulation desk before.
We had a wonderful weekend with lots of "us" time. So glad we were able to experience our first bed and breakfast. It was so fun!
